A US government watchdog released its first report on Monday detailing the impact of the Iran war, referred to as Operation Epic Fury. The report, compiled by the Pentagon inspector general with input from Defense, State, and USAID watchdogs, provides the most comprehensive official accounting to date of the conflict's costs. It acknowledges shortfalls in the military's advanced weapons and offers the first public assessment of damage to American aircraft, bases, and diplomatic outposts across the Middle East. While much of the information had been previously reported, this document consolidates the findings on American lives lost, taxpayer expenditures, and physical damage incurred during the war.
