Iran war live: Tehran wants Washington to re-enter MoU before US midterms

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has told US media that Tehran remains willing to pursue an agreement with Washington through negotiations, even after what he described as the “assassination” of Iran’s supreme leader, scientists and military commanders.Pezeshkian said in an interview with Fox News that “what is discussed and negotiated is within the framework of international law, and what would be rightfully ours under international law”. He added that “we never sought anything more” and that “based on that foundation, we’re seeking an agreement if the counterpart agrees to it”.The Iranian president noted that “we have no problems” and that “we did reach an agreement with your president”, referring to Donald Trump. He explained that the “agreement was signed, and based on that, we are willing and still wish to move forward”.Furthermore, Pezeshkian maintained that “the framework was agreed upon” and that “we had not closed the Strait of Hormuz; it was open, without any legal justification or framework”.Criticising military actions against his country, he said: “They attacked us. They assassinated and martyred our esteemed supreme leader, our scientists, our military commanders and government.”
