HK Electric to cut fuel charge for first time in 4 months as CLP raises rate

HK Electric will reduce its fuel charge for customers in October, marking the first decrease in four months. This change will lower the fuel clause charge by 1.4 HK cents to 59.3 cents per kilowatt hour. The fuel clause charge is adjusted monthly to reflect the actual cost of fuel for power generation. In contrast, CLP Power, Hong Kong's other electricity supplier, will increase its energy prices next month. HK Electric supplies electricity primarily to Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island. Despite the reduction, HK Electric cautioned that international energy prices continue to be volatile.
