WA work safety watchdog makes ‘initial enquiries’ after family who hired kayak and paddleboards washed out to sea

WorkSafe WA is investigating a resort in Quindalup, Western Australia, after a family was rescued at sea. The Appelbee family, vacationing 200km south of Perth, was using a kayak and paddleboards rented from the resort when strong winds pushed them offshore in Geographe Bay on Friday afternoon. The family, consisting of a mother and two children, was found drifting in the ocean. WorkSafe WA is making initial inquiries into the incident, while the resort is conducting its own safety review following the rescue.
