Police visited home of Canada school shooting suspect multiple times over mental health concerns

Following a school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, Canada, that killed six and injured many others, police revealed they had visited the home of the 18-year-old suspect, Jesse Van Rootselaar, multiple times due to mental health concerns and weapons. The suspect, who died by suicide at the school, also allegedly killed his mother and step-brother at their home. Authorities confirmed that the suspect had been apprehended under the mental health act on several occasions and that firearms had been seized from the residence in the past, but were later returned to the lawful owner. The suspect's firearms license had expired in 2024 and no firearms were registered in her name. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the town.
