Tumbler Ridge

Tumbler Ridge is a remote community in northeastern British Columbia, situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and near a geological park. It is typically a peaceful mountain town. Recently, Tumbler Ridge has become the focus of international news due to a mass shooting that occurred on February 10, 2026. The shooting took place at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a connected residence, resulting in the deaths of 10 people, including the suspected shooter, who died from a self-inflicted injury. Over 25 others were injured, some critically. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to the incident, and a shelter-in-place order for the town was subsequently lifted. The event is considered one of the deadliest mass shootings in Canadian history, prompting shock and heartbreak and raising questions about gun violence in Canada.
