Japan is predicted to experience another record-breaking hot summer in 2024, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The agency forecasts a high probability of above-normal temperatures across much of the country between June and August. This forecast is attributed to the ongoing effects of global warming, including shrinking Arctic ice, altered wind patterns, and rising ocean temperatures. If realized, this summer could surpass the record-breaking temperatures of the past three years, with average temperatures potentially exceeding previous records. In 2023, many locations across Japan experienced record highs, including a national record of 41.8 degrees Celsius.
