Japan is currently led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Recent polls indicate increasing support for the LDP. Japan's relationship with China is strained due to a diplomatic row over Taiwan, resulting in a significant drop in Chinese tourists, impacting the Japanese economy. Japan is also participating in discussions with the US, UK, EU, Australia, and New Zealand regarding a strategic alliance over critical minerals.
