France confines more than 1,700 people to cruise ship after suspected norovirus death

French authorities have placed over 1,700 people, including passengers and crew, under confinement on a cruise ship docked in Bordeaux. This action was taken after an elderly passenger died and approximately 50 others exhibited symptoms consistent with norovirus. The Ambassador Cruise Line vessel, carrying 1,233 passengers primarily from Britain and Ireland, arrived in Bordeaux on Tuesday. The deceased passenger was 90 years old.
