Chinese surgical robots break into Vietnam market as Beijing takes aim at US dominance

China has successfully entered the Vietnamese market with its domestically developed surgical robots, a significant move to challenge Western dominance in high-end medical equipment. These Chinese robots have been registered and installed in several prominent Vietnamese hospitals. This development is part of a broader strategy by Chinese medical equipment makers to expand their overseas presence. Furthermore, China and Vietnam plan to enhance their collaboration in areas such as robotic surgery training, clinical applications, academic exchanges, and talent development, according to China's National Healthcare Security Administration. Shipments of Chinese medical equipment to ASEAN countries have seen a substantial increase this year, indicating a growing trend in cross-border healthcare platforms facilitating competition with established US companies.
