Thailand hits back at ‘inaccuracies’ in UN expert’s Cambodia findings

Thailand has strongly refuted claims made by a UN human rights specialist regarding the ongoing displacement of people due to the border war with Cambodia. The specialist, following a visit to Cambodia, reported that 20,000 people remain displaced by the conflict. This exchange highlights a struggle for international opinion between the two neighboring countries over their territorial dispute. The border war, which occurred in July and December of the previous year, resulted in numerous casualties and displaced approximately one million people on both sides of the frontier. A ceasefire established in December 2025 has largely been maintained, though sporadic clashes continue along the 800km border.
