Domestically, former opposition leader Kem Sokha has received a royal pardon from a treason sentence, granted by acting head of state Hun Sen, who previously led the country for decades. The country's judicial system has also seen Chinese nationals sentenced for serious crimes, including murder, highlighting ongoing challenges with organized crime.
