US sets 15% polysilicon tariff, price floors to challenge China’s dominance

The United States has implemented new measures to address China's dominance in polysilicon production. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation imposing a 15% tariff on polysilicon and related products, which will become effective in 120 days. Additionally, the US has established price floors for these materials. These actions aim to protect domestic manufacturers and reduce imports of China-sourced polysilicon. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that the price floors are intended to prevent China from "dumping" materials and the tariffs encourage domestic production. The measures target key materials essential for solar panel and semiconductor manufacturing.
