Event Overview
The Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) is Hong Kong's university entrance examination. Recently, the English paper of the DSE became newsworthy due to its inclusion of contemporary and relatable topics like bubble tea and YouTube channels, which students found engaging. However, the unexpected addition of two poems in the reading section also caught many candidates off guard. Approximately 53,000 students participated in the reading and writing papers. Furthermore, Hong Kong education authorities are planning to establish an internationally benchmarked version of the DSE on a pilot basis. This international version aims to facilitate foreign students' applications to higher education institutions in Hong Kong and mainland China. The development involves technical explorations and studies with relevant bodies. This initiative highlights the DSE's evolving role and its potential expansion to a global audience, increasing its significance in international education.
