Operation Santa Claus (OSC)

Operation Santa Claus (OSC) is an annual charitable fundraising initiative organized by the South China Morning Post (SCMP). It supports various charitable projects and vulnerable groups in Hong Kong. OSC is newsworthy because it recently concluded its latest campaign, exceeding its fundraising target by raising over HK$19 million, nearly double the initial goal of HK$11 million. This year's funds will benefit 13 selected charities, including TREATS, Farm the City, and Love 21 Foundation, supporting diverse causes such as children with special educational needs, urban farming for the elderly, and health initiatives for the neurodiverse community. A significant portion of the funds will also provide emergency relief to victims of the Tai Po fire. Corporate involvement is a key aspect, with companies like Maxim’s Group, Chinachem Group, and Deacons participating through fundraising and volunteer activities, highlighting OSC's continued relevance in addressing critical social needs and fostering community engagement in Hong Kong.
