Event Overview
Paris-Roubaix, also known as 'l'Enfer du Nord' (Hell of the North), is a prestigious and challenging one-day professional cycling race known for its arduous course featuring numerous sectors of cobblestone roads (pavé). It is one of cycling's five 'Monuments'. The race is newsworthy due to two recent developments. First, the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), the race organizer, has reported the deliberate theft of cobblestones from key sectors of the course. This poses a significant safety risk to riders, turning the already treacherous pavé into a potential death trap. Second, Tadej Pogacar, a prominent cyclist, recently won the Milan-San Remo, bringing him closer to achieving the rare feat of winning all five Monuments. Paris-Roubaix is the only Monument he has yet to conquer, adding further anticipation and significance to the upcoming race.
