Rencontre annuelle des musulmans de France (RAMF)

The Rencontre annuelle des musulmans de France (RAMF), or Annual Meeting of Muslims of France, is a large Muslim gathering that has been held annually for approximately forty years. It is often described as the largest Muslim gathering in Europe. Recently, the RAMF became newsworthy when the Paris police prefecture banned the event, initially scheduled for April 3-6, 2026. The prefecture cited a heightened national and international context of increased tensions and a high level of terrorist threat, arguing that the event posed a risk of public disorder. However, this decision was challenged in court. An administrative court, acting urgently, overturned the ban, finding that the disturbances cited by authorities were not sufficiently established. The RAMF's current relevance lies in the ongoing debate surrounding security concerns and religious freedom in France, particularly in the context of heightened terrorism alerts.
