Coyah

Coyah, Guinea, is the location of a prison where Aboubacar Diakité, also known as Toumba, was incarcerated. Diakité was the former aide-de-camp to Moussa Dadis Camara, the former head of Guinea's junta. He was serving a 10-year prison sentence for crimes against humanity related to the September 28, 2009, massacre at a stadium in Conakry. Recent news reports indicate that Diakité was transferred between prisons on February 10, 2026, which caused tensions. He was later hospitalized in intensive care and died on the night of March 24-25, 2026, while still serving his sentence. Coyah is therefore relevant as the place of his imprisonment and eventual death, linking it to a key figure convicted for his role in a significant event in Guinean history.
