Daulatdia

Daulatdia is a location in Bangladesh, specifically in the Rajbari district, known for its ferry terminal on the Padma River and its large brothel. Recently, Daulatdia has been in the news due to two separate events. Firstly, a passenger bus carrying approximately 40 people plunged into the Padma River while attempting to board a ferry at the Daulatdia terminal, resulting in at least 23-24 fatalities. The bus reportedly lost control as it approached the ferry. Secondly, Daulatdia's brothel, which has existed for decades, has gained attention because all 400 children born there have now received birth certificates for the first time. These children, previously unregistered due to their mothers' occupation as sex workers and unknown fathers, have been granted legal recognition through the efforts of campaigners. These events highlight both the dangers associated with transportation in the area and the ongoing efforts to address social issues within the community.
