Espais Volart

Espais Volart, a space belonging to the Vila Casas Foundation, is currently hosting a retrospective exhibition of the works of Esther Boix (1927-2014). The exhibition features 180 of her pieces and aims to celebrate her artistic legacy and contributions to modern art, coinciding with the approach of the centenary of her birth. Boix, a painter from Girona, is being recognized for challenging social norms during the Franco regime. The exhibition highlights her feminist perspective and her role in pushing boundaries through her art, as exemplified by works like 'El mirall' (1953), which depicts a female bullfighter and serves as an introduction to the themes explored in the exhibition. The Vila Casas Foundation emphasizes the importance of showcasing Boix's work to recognize her artistic merit and her defiance of societal expectations.
