Fresnes

Fresnes is a commune in the Val-de-Marne department of France. Recently, the town's city hall was targeted by a violent attack on March 27, 2026. A group of approximately twenty hooded individuals fired mortars at the building, forced entry, and proceeded to vandalize several rooms, stealing furniture. The incident occurred on the eve of the installation of the new municipal council, led by newly elected mayor Christophe Carlier (LR). Carlier has condemned the act as being directly linked to the election and causing significant disruption to municipal services. The attack has been widely denounced, with the Minister of the Interior calling it an attack on the Republic. Investigations are underway, and the event has left residents shocked, although the council installation and scheduled marriages proceeded as planned.
