The vessel, carrying over 240 people, lost contact during bad weather while traveling from East Java to South Kalimantan on Borneo Island. This prompted an urgent search and rescue operation involving Indonesian authorities. While 103 passengers were successfully evacuated, with one fatality reported, rescuers are still searching for approximately 140 individuals.
