Lesterville

Lesterville, a small southeastern Missouri community, has recently become the focus of news due to severe flooding. Heavy rainfall on Friday led to widespread inundation, trapping over 200 children and staff at Camp Taum Sauk. Emergency services conducted helicopter evacuations to airlift them to safety. Additionally, approximately 20 individuals were rescued from a collapsed campground building after seeking refuge there. Tragically, the flooding also resulted in a fatality; the body of Faith Gregory was discovered after her home in nearby Crawford County was swept away. The nearby roads were washed out, complicating rescue efforts and leaving residents isolated. The events highlight the vulnerability of the region to extreme weather and the critical role of emergency response in such situations.
