Montreux

Montreux is a city in Switzerland known for hosting the annual Montreux Jazz Festival (MJF). The festival, a significant cultural event, was recently the site of a performance by singer D4vd in July 2024. Montreux is also serving as a location for sensitive international negotiations. Currently, it is hosting a ninth round of negotiations between the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa) and the AFC/M23 group. The Swiss authorities are facilitating these talks, which began on April 13th, aiming to foster peace and stability in the Eastern DRC region. The location was initially kept secret to ensure the safety of delegates and the smooth progress of discussions. Montreux's neutrality and infrastructure make it a suitable venue for such diplomatic efforts.
