Domestically, the government has arrested dozens of people for allegedly supporting the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, a staunch ally of Ortega. This follows the release of prisoners, reportedly due to pressure from the US government. Internationally, a Nicaraguan man died in a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Texas, marking the second such death in a short period, raising concerns about conditions in these facilities.
