Sha Tin New Town Plaza

An outlet of the London-based beauty chain Opatra, located at Sha Tin New Town Plaza shopping centre, has temporarily suspended its operations. This action follows a complaint from a customer alleging she was defrauded of over HK$60,000 due to aggressive sales tactics. Hong Kong customs is actively investigating the case. In relation to this, customs officers have arrested a saleswoman in her twenties, bringing the total number of arrests in connection with the company's practices to three. The incident highlights concerns about the sales methods employed by the beauty chain. The temporary closure of the Sha Tin New Town Plaza outlet indicates a significant disruption for the business and raises questions about consumer protection within the shopping centre.
