Stonehenge

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire, England, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is composed of a ring of standing stones, the construction of which began around 5,000 years ago. Recently, Stonehenge has been newsworthy due to two distinct developments. Firstly, a long-contested plan to build a tunnel under the site to alleviate traffic congestion has been officially cancelled after years of protests and significant expenditure. The Department for Transport revoked the development consent order, marking the end of the controversial project. Secondly, English Heritage, which manages Stonehenge, is introducing 'bonding benches' at the site as part of an initiative to combat parental isolation. This aims to revive the historical role of heritage sites as community gathering places, offering parents a space to connect while visiting Stonehenge.
