Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) is a geographically and culturally diverse region encompassing all African countries south of the Sahara Desert. Recent news highlights significant challenges facing the region. Economically, a substantial portion of SSA countries are poorer now than before the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to a broader trend of slowed global growth. Socially, the region is experiencing a crisis of violence, particularly against Christians. Nigeria is identified as the epicenter of global killings of Christians due to their faith. A significant number of countries with verified deaths linked to Christian faith are located in SSA. This violence, often perpetrated by Islamist militants, has drawn international attention, including interventions by the U.S. government. The situation underscores the urgent need for economic development and improved security and religious freedom within the region.
