Tarlac province

Tarlac province is emerging as a significant location for strategic US-backed initiatives aimed at diversifying supply chains and enhancing regional security. The province is central to the Pax Silica project, a US administration plan to secure critical minerals and semiconductors, which faces a tight deadline due to potential political shifts. Additionally, Tarlac is being considered for an ammunition production facility, part of the US-led Partnership for Indo-Pacific Industrial Resilience (PIPIR). This initiative seeks to reduce supply chain vulnerabilities and bolster industrial capacity in the region. While these developments highlight Tarlac's growing importance in US-Philippines strategic cooperation, they also face domestic criticism, with some warning of the nation becoming a pawn in broader geopolitical conflicts. The province's role in these ambitious projects underscores its current relevance in international economic and defense planning.
