Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is an organization that advocates for and provides services to asylum seekers and refugees in Australia. They are currently newsworthy due to their criticism of the Australian government's decision to reduce the annual refugee intake by a third, a move that aligns with previous Coalition-era levels. The ASRC has also been involved in highlighting the dire living conditions faced by asylum seekers, as evidenced by a survey reporting substandard accommodation and difficulties in accessing basic necessities like food for those held on Nauru. This work underscores the ASRC's ongoing relevance in advocating for humane treatment and adequate support for vulnerable populations within Australia's immigration system.
