Entso-e

ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, is a European association representing 40 electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) from 36 countries. Its primary role is to ensure the secure and reliable operation of the interconnected European electricity grid. ENTSO-E is currently newsworthy due to its investigation into a significant blackout that affected the Iberian Peninsula on April 28th of the previous year. The organization commissioned a study by European experts to determine the causes and contributing factors of the event. The final report of this study was recently released, identifying a series of avoidable factors that led to the blackout, which was described as the largest in European history. The report calls for changes from all actors involved to prevent future occurrences. The incident and ENTSO-E's subsequent investigation highlight the increasing complexity of managing the European electricity grid, particularly with the growing integration of renewable energy sources, and the importance of robust coordination and preventative measures.
