The Hondius is a cruise ship that recently became newsworthy due to an outbreak of hantavirus. The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed five cases of the virus linked to the ship, with three additional suspected cases of the Andes strain. In response to the health scare, the ship was met with significant security measures upon its arrival in Tenerife. Medical teams were prepared to board and screen passengers and crew for symptoms of the virus.
