Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal

The Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN) is a key organization representing private companies involved in electricity generation within Nepal. Its members are vital to the country's efforts to expand its power infrastructure and achieve energy self-sufficiency. IPPAN is currently newsworthy due to recent incidents at hydropower projects. Specifically, news reports highlight the challenging rescue operations for workers trapped in tunnels following flooding at a hydropower site. These events underscore the inherent risks in hydropower development and the critical role IPPAN plays in advocating for and coordinating with its member companies on safety, operational standards, and disaster response. The association's work is significant as Nepal continues to rely on independent producers to harness its vast hydropower potential and meet growing energy demands.
