One involves MI5 apologizing and paying compensation to a woman, known as Beth, who alleges she was abused by an MI5 agent. She claims the agent, tasked with infiltrating the far-right, used his position to terrorize her. The other case concerns allegations that police and MI5 subjected a former BBC journalist, Vincent Kearney, to unlawful interference by obtaining his communications data over an eight-year period to identify his sources. These cases highlight the IPT's role in overseeing the actions of powerful state entities and ensuring they operate within legal boundaries, particularly concerning privacy and potential abuse of power.
