Kripo

Kripo, short for Kriminalpolizei, is the criminal police force in Germany. They are responsible for investigating serious crimes, including arson, theft, and other offenses that fall outside the purview of the regular police (Polizei). Kripo's work is currently newsworthy due to their involvement in two separate cases. First, they are investigating a fire that broke out in a nightclub in Kehl, Baden-Württemberg, where approximately 750 people were present. Their investigation aims to determine the cause of the fire and whether any criminal activity was involved. Second, Kripo was initially involved in the case of the allegedly stolen German handball championship trophy (Meisterschale) belonging to Füchse Berlin. Initially, it was believed the trophy was stolen and melted down. However, the case took an unexpected turn when it was discovered the trophy was actually located in the basement of the Füchse Berlin's managing director. This highlights Kripo's role in investigating and resolving high-profile theft cases, even when the circumstances are unusual.
