Parti libéral

The term 'Parti libéral' refers to at least two distinct political entities: the Liberal Party in Canada and a liberal party in Germany. In Canada, the Liberal Party, currently led by Prime Minister Mark Carney, recently gained a majority in Parliament after winning additional seats in by-elections. This allows Carney to pursue economic reforms aimed at strengthening Canada's economy, particularly in the face of challenges posed by the United States. Carney was initially elected in April 2025 without a majority. In Germany, a liberal party, historically opposed to debt, is facing a crisis. Under pressure from the far-right, it has adopted a more libertarian stance. Recent poor electoral performance, including being ousted from two state parliaments in March with less than 5% of the vote, has raised concerns about its survival.
