Somali police

The Somali Police Force is the national law enforcement agency of Somalia. They are currently newsworthy due to recent incidents involving alleged attacks on political figures and the detention and mistreatment of journalists. In one instance, former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire accused government forces, presumably including the police, of attacking him prior to planned anti-government protests in Mogadishu. In another development, a Guardian reporter and two colleagues were reportedly detained and assaulted by Somali authorities for their reporting on a woman's alleged torture.
