Spark TV

Spark TV is a private television broadcaster in Uganda, identified as one of the country's largest. It is part of a leading independent media group that also includes the Daily Monitor newspaper and NTV Uganda. Recently, Spark TV has become newsworthy due to its forced closure. The army chief, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is also the son of President Yoweri Museveni, ordered the shutdown of Spark TV and other prominent media outlets, including the Daily Monitor and NTV Uganda. This action has led to the media group being described as being under "military siege," with armed soldiers reportedly stationed outside their headquarters and Spark TV being taken off air. The closures highlight a significant development in Uganda's media landscape, raising concerns about press freedom in the country.
