Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as the Pakistani Taliban, is a militant group operating primarily in Pakistan. It shares ideological alignment with the Afghan Taliban but operates independently, focusing on overthrowing the Pakistani government and establishing its own interpretation of Islamic law. The TTP is newsworthy due to a recent surge in attacks, contributing to heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Recent events include a roadside bomb that killed three Pakistani police officers near the Afghan border, claimed by the TTP, and a bombing at a Shia mosque in Islamabad, although the TTP's involvement in the latter is still under investigation.
