Tigray Peace Force

The Tigray Peace Force is an armed entity currently engaged in renewed fighting within Ethiopia's Tigray region. While specific details about its origins and full composition are not provided in the recent articles, it is presented as an actor in the ongoing conflict. The organization has become newsworthy due to its involvement in intensified hostilities that have led to the Ethiopian federal forces and allied fighters retaking Mekelle, the regional capital. Recent developments indicate that pro-government militias, potentially including or allied with the Tigray Peace Force, have captured key towns, which could facilitate further advances by federal forces. The current relevance of the Tigray Peace Force lies in its participation in a conflict that is reviving fears of prolonged fighting, displacement, and a deepening humanitarian crisis in the Tigray region.
