The Tooro Kingdom in Uganda is currently embroiled in a succession dispute following the recent death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. King Oyo, who ascended to the throne in 1995 at the age of three, making him the world's youngest reigning monarch at the time, passed away on August 27th in the US. His burial took place at the Karambi Royal Tombs, where his appointed successor, news anchor Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, cast coffee berries into the grave, signifying a formal handover of power. However, this transition is contentious, as the family of the late king has rejected the selection of the news anchor as his successor, igniting a bitter dispute. The kingdom is now looking to move past this internal conflict as it navigates the complexities of royal succession.
