Volksrepublik Donezk

The "Volksrepublik Donezk" (Donetsk People's Republic) is a pro-Russian separatist entity proclaimed in 2014 in eastern Ukraine, backed by the Kremlin. It controls parts of the Donetsk region. It is newsworthy due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, where Russia initially aimed to fully control the Donetsk region, among others. Recent reports suggest Russia may be scaling back its war aims.
