Yemen's army

Yemen's army, representing the internationally recognized government, is currently engaged in significant military operations against the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels. Recent reports indicate a surge in conflict, with the army claiming substantial Houthi casualties, reportedly over 1,500 in a single 24-hour period, through nearly 500 military operations utilizing various weaponry including warplanes, drones, and artillery. These actions are occurring amidst heightened concerns from the UN about Yemen being at the greatest risk of renewed major conflict since the 2022 truce. The army has stated it responded on multiple fronts to Houthi attacks, such as missile and drone strikes on displacement camps and residential areas in Marib. The army's recent activities, including closing a key crossing to Taiz city, highlight their ongoing efforts to counter Houthi advances and assert control over territory, making them a central player in the continuing Yemeni conflict.
