Amjad Youssef

Amjad Youssef is a former Syrian regime official suspected of leading the Tadamon massacre, a notorious mass killing of civilians in the Tadamon district of Damascus in April 2013 during the Syrian civil war. He became a wanted fugitive after the fall of Bashar al-Assad. Youssef is newsworthy because he was recently arrested by Syrian security forces in the Ghab plain area, approximately 30 miles outside of Hama, according to Syria's interior ministry. The arrest follows the emergence of footage in 2022 depicting Syrian soldiers leading bound and blindfolded victims to a pit before shooting them, providing direct evidence of the massacre.
