Chris Baghsarian

Chris Baghsarian was an 85-year-old widower living in North Ryde, a suburb of Sydney, Australia. He is newsworthy because he was kidnapped from his home on February 13th in what police allege was a case of mistaken identity. The family described the situation as a 'nightmare'. Police have been investigating his disappearance, executing warrants at properties linked to the kidnapping, including a 'makeshift stronghold' in Dural and finding forensic evidence in a burnt-out car. Human remains, suspected to be Baghsarian's, were discovered near a golf club in Pitt Town. Two men, Daniel Stevens, 24, and Gerard Andrews, 29, have been charged with his murder and taking or detaining in company with intent to ransom, occasioning actual bodily harm. Police are also seeking to question three other men seen on CCTV near the Dural property. The lawyer for one of the charged men stated his client appeared to be 'no mastermind'.
