Christopher Phillips

Christopher Phillips, a 60-year-old man from Porthcawl, south Wales, has been jailed for his role in a disturbing scheme involving his deceased mother, Sylvia Phillips. For nearly three years, from March 2023 until his arrest in February of the current year, Phillips kept his 89-year-old mother's body stored in a chest freezer in their home's living room. During this period, he unlawfully claimed almost £80,000 (US$108,000) in welfare benefits and other funds that were rightfully hers. Phillips pleaded guilty to preventing the lawful and decent burial of his mother. The case came to light following his arrest, leading to his recent sentencing.
