Sylvia Phillips

Sylvia Phillips was an 89-year-old retired company secretary from Porthcawl, south Wales. Her death in March 2023 went unreported for nearly three years, as her body was kept in a chest freezer in the living room of her home. During this period, her son, Christopher Phillips, continued to claim nearly £80,000 in welfare benefits and other funds that were rightfully hers. He was arrested in February of the current year. Christopher Phillips has since admitted to preventing the lawful and decent burial of his mother. He was jailed for this offense, highlighting a disturbing case of deception and disrespect towards the deceased, with the primary news focus being on his criminal actions and the prolonged concealment of his mother's body.
