He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs. Van Orden has been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump and his policies. Recent news articles do not directly mention Derrick Van Orden, but they do highlight events and political activities relevant to his constituents and party. Another article touches upon national park maintenance being affected by a Trump-related initiative, which could indirectly relate to conservation and public land issues that may be of interest to his constituents.
