Jimmy Lai Chee-ying (Jimmy Lai)

Jimmy Lai Chee-ying, the 78-year-old founder of the now-defunct Hong Kong newspaper Apple Daily, is a prominent figure known for his pro-democracy stance and criticism of the Chinese government. He is currently newsworthy due to his sentencing on February 9th for national security offenses, specifically conspiracy to collude with foreign forces, a violation of Hong Kong's national security law.
