Jimmy Panetta

Jimmy Panetta is a US lawmaker who, along with seven other US lawmakers, has demanded that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim lift the country's long-standing ban on Israeli nationals. This demand was accompanied by a threat to suspend military training funds to Malaysia if the policy is not reversed. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has publicly rejected this demand, calling it "totally absurd" and stating that Malaysia will not be intimidated into changing its policy. He asserted that Malaysia is not in contravention of international laws by maintaining this ban, emphasizing the country's consistent support for Palestinian statehood and its lack of diplomatic relations with Israel. Panetta's involvement highlights a current geopolitical tension between the US Congress and Malaysia regarding foreign policy and international relations, particularly concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
